Our beautiful couple Beth and Tom chose Sorrento for their sophisticated and intimate wedding in May this year
We had the pleasure of catching up with Beth, asking her about everything from Tom’s proposal, the wedding planning process and of course the incredible wedding day itself!
All about you …
How did you first meet?
We met on a dating app and connected straight away. After the first date, we came off the app and cancelled all other potential dates.
The proposal: was it a complete surprise and where did it happen?
The proposal was in Venice on a gondola. It was a total surprise and totally perfect.
Why did you choose to get married in Sorrento?
Beth’s grandparents travelled the world and that was her grandma’s favourite place.
We also love italy and we got engaged in Venice.
Sorrento …
What did you love most about Sorrento itself?
Beautiful scenery and food with the most friendly and welcoming people. And of course the limoncello!
Why did you choose your reception venue for your wedding?
It has views overlooking the sea and mount Vesuvius and the package they offered was great value and offered everything we were looking for. They were incredible on the day and we’re so glad we choose there.
Which three words would you use to describe your wedding?
Intimate. Classic. Personal.
Styling …
What were your wedding colours?
We choose a fresh palette of ivory, navy, sage green & gold. And of course lemons!
Did you have a theme or a particular inspiration for your wedding?
We wanted to stay true to Sorrento so included lots of lemons and fresh foliage.
Which flowers did you have in your bouquet and in your arrangements at the wedding?
Giovanni Castello provided my wedding flowers - white peonies, white roses (the yorkshire flower!) and eucalyptus. My bouquet was beautiful and smelt amazing! I wish it could have lasted forever. My bridesmaid had one single rose with foliage. We also have a beautiful arch with lemons and rose petals on the aisle, it really dressed the ceremony.
What made you choose Sophisticated Weddings?
We had consulted with a few wedding planners but we clicked with Victoria straight away. She was friendly, professional and understood our vision. Plus I’d seen brides upset on forums because she wasn’t available on their chosen date, so I knew she must be good!
Who was your photographer and how did you choose them?
Francesco Quaglia. We looked at the portfolios of a few recommended photographers and his was more our style, it’s hard to explain why but we loved his photos.
Did you have a videographer?
We had a videographer and I would recommend this to everyone! It’s worth every penny. It’s amazing to be able to watch the day back and feel all the emotions again.
Your style …
Where was your dress fROm?
My dress was from Elite Bridal and was lace fishtail with illusion neckline. I choose it because it’s the first one I tried on that I didn’t hate and I hated dress shopping!
Did you have any other accessories?
I wore a fingertip veil with drop crystals. On the morning I almost didn’t wear it! My friends convinced me I should. I wore a Tiffany bracelet with blue heart that Tom had given me for Christmas, marquise carat* earrings to match my engagement ring and a pandora ring (another gift from Tom). My favourite accessory was the cape!
Where were your bridesmaids’/flowergirls’ outfits from?
Asos
What did your husband and groomsmen wear?
Tom chose his own outfit and I didn’t see it until the day. It was a custom made suit from Moss bros with personalised touches such as our names, the date and place embroidered on the inside.
The wedding experience …
What was the weather like?
Perfect! It had rained all week but the sun was out and it was a beautiful day.
Who made your wedding cake and what was it like?
Our cake was included in our reception package, we wanted to stick with the traditional Sorrento Delizie al Limone. We took a cake topper to be added to it. It was delicious and looked stunning.
What kind of entertainment did you have?
We had ‘Pop Solution’ to play in the afternoon and evening. We loved their style and they provided a great atmosphere. They were even happy to oblige when Beth’s brother decided he wanted to sing a few numbers!
Reflecting on the wedding day …
What were your most memorable moments from the day?
The feeling! It’s indescribable. Walking down the aisle and seeing Tom for the first time was incredible. Looking around the table and seeing all the people we love most who’d traveled to support us and share the day with us.
Driving and walking through Sorrento after the ceremony. It was lovely to have some alone time with my new husband and people were waving, clapping and congratulating us. We felt like royalty! It was very special and made for some fantastic photographs.
