Our wedding planning service also includes our full support on the wedding day itself. Sophisticated Weddings have worked hard to build some great relationships with local, reliable suppliers all over Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. civil ceremonies

Sophisticated Weddings offer civil (legally binding) and symbolic ceremonies. All weddings with legal validity must take place on a local authority property (i.e. a town hall) or a venue which has obtained a legal license to hold a wedding ceremony.

There are a number of locations for your civil ceremony across Sorrento, Positano and Ravello, many offering outdoor ceremonies with fabulous views. The ceremony itself is conducted in Italian and by law there must be an individual to act as a translator/interpreter if the bride and groom do not speak the Italian language. The ceremony itself is recognised under British and EU law so there is no need for a separate ceremony in the UK. The ceremony lasts around 20-30 minutes.

symbolic ceremonies

Symbolic ceremonies are becoming increasingly popular every year in Italy. They carry no legal validity and therefore they can be arranged anywhere in Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast: within the grounds of a charming villa, a hotel with sea view terrace and even on a private boat! The symbolic ceremony is a super alternative to a civil ceremony, if you want to experience a wedding ceremony/blessing avoiding any paperwork or if you have already had a legally binding ceremony at home. It gives you the option to have privacy and a bespoke ceremony completely tailored to you as a couple, without having to follow the standard format of a civil ceremony and also means that you avoid all of the expenses associated with producing the legal paperwork required to marry in Italy. With the assistance of our experienced celebrant you can design and plan the perfect ceremony prior to your arrival in Italy.
