Ways to enhance your guests' enjoyment on your wedding day in Italy
5 tips to maximise your guests’ comfort and overall experience on your wedding day
Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and famous parts of Italy and offers the perfect location for an incredible and unforgettable destination wedding. There are so many things to consider when you start to plan your wedding in Italy but, from our experience, looking after your closest family and friends is always of utmost importance to our brides and grooms, especially when their guests have travelled far and wide to join the celebrations.
Here we share 5 tips to maximise your guests’ experience and enjoyment of your special day …
one
Consider your timings carefully. If you are getting married in the height of the summer here, you know that temperatures are high and that it gets super hot! Therefore consider that a 12 midday or 1pm ceremony time in July or August is going to be very uncomfortable for your guests, especially if there is limited shade at your ceremony location. We usually recommend a late afternoon ceremony as being the ideal time to get married, especially in the height of the summer.
two
Make sure that when your guests arrive to the ceremony that they are welcomed by the ushers/groomsmen and that they know where to go and where (roughly if no official seating plan) they will be seated. Consider may be positioning some handheld fans (or small parasols) on the chairs to help cool them down during the ceremony if there is no shade available. As wedding planners, we always ensure that your guests are seated just before the arrival of the bride, so they are not uncomfortable before the ceremony has even started.
three
Ensure that immediately on arrival at the reception venue there is a welcome drink available (including chilled mineral water not just alcohol) and if your aperitif is outside that there are shaded seating areas for those looking for a respite from the sun. If you are spending 1-1 time with your photographer post ceremony, ensure that your guests know where they are heading. This is also an aspect of the day that we look after to ensure that your guests are taken care of throughout every stage of the day.
four
Consider the distance between your ceremony and reception venues before booking. Traffic is high in Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast during the summer months and it’s not necessarily a nice experience for your guests to be spending too much time on a coach on your wedding day travelling to and from locations. Also consider any of your guests that may have mobility issues, Positano and Ravello are home to many steps and inclines, so ensure your guests are prepared in advance and that the ladies have potentially packed suitable footwear (even if just as a backup on the day.)
five
Ask your guests to be involved when choosing your DJ music playlist or maybe consider something like a photo or video booth, where they can be involved in delivering you a personalised, fun greeting!
