Sophisticated Weddings offer civil (legally binding) and symbolic ceremonies. All weddings with legal validity must take place on a local authority property (i.e. a town hall) or a venue which has obtained a legal license to hold a wedding ceremony.
There are a number of locations for your civil ceremony across the various towns, many offering outdoor ceremonies with fabulous views. The ceremony itself is conducted in Italian and by law there must be an individual to act as a translator if the bride and groom do not speak Italian. The ceremony itself is recognised under British and EU law so there is no need for a separate ceremony in the UK. The ceremony lasts around 30 minutes.
Prices start from 1350 euros for British citizens and include: venue fee, registrar fee, translation of ceremony from Italian to English, full assistance for all legal paperwork (including translation of official documents into Italian) and paperwork delivered by hand to the Town Hall. Please ask us for further information on Legal Requirements for marrying in Italy.
Symbolic ceremonies are becoming increasingly popular every year in Italy. They do not have legal requirements and they can be arranged anywhere in Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, a charming villa on top of the sea, a hotel with sea view terrace and even on a private boat! The symbolic ceremony is a valid option to a civil ceremony, if you want to experience a wedding ceremony avoiding any paperwork or if have already had a legally binding ceremony at home.
