Damian and Jenny, Sorrento, April 2017

Damian and Jenny married on a beautifully sunny day in April at the stunning Villa Eliana, Sorrento surrounded by a large number of family and friends who had travelled from all over the globe to share their special day.

Flying in from their home in Hong Kong, Jenny and Damian had settled on Sorrento for their magical day mainly because of their love of Italy itself (especially gelato and pizza!!) but also making it easier for family travelling from Damian’s native Ireland and Jenny’s native USA.

The bridal preparations started in the heart of Sorrento at Palazzo Marziale with hair and makeup by the very talented Jimena Puy, accompanied by some bubbles of course! The groom and groomsmen meanwhile took the opportunity to grab some photographs in and around Sorrento before heading up to the Villa to await the arrival of the stunningly beautiful bride and bridal party.

Villa Eliana was built as a private residence in the 1960’s by Neopolitan ship-owner Achille Lauro who dedicated it to his wife Eliana. Having been beautifully restored by the Vinaccia brothers, who acquired it in 2000, it is an incredible location for weddings, ceremonies and events.

The wedding ceremony took place on one of the external terraces with the backdrop of the Island of Capri and the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. After reading their personal vows to one another, the ceremony was concluded beautifully with guests ringing Irish good luck bells that had been gifted by the newlyweds as they walked back down the aisle. An old Irish superstition is that the sound of the bells ward off malicious spirits! Each guest was also handed a red balloon and these were released into the beautiful blue sky to mark this special moment. After the ceremony there was an intimate Chinese tea ceremony with close family in keeping with Jenny’s Chinese heritage.

Following the ceremony guests were invited to the covered terrace in front of the villa to enjoy an abundant aperitif featuring delicious canapés and traditional Italian delicacies whilst the newlyweds snuck off for some precious photo and video moments.
An incredible wedding banquet followed with every detail carefully considered from the table centerpieces to the wonderful miniature bottles of lemon olive oil as ‘favours’ and gift to each guest. After dinner the couple cut their stunning three tier wedding cake after which the DJ began playing and the newlyweds danced their first dance in front of their delighted guests before they were joined on the dance floor to party the night away.

Thank you, Damian and Jenny for letting us be a part of the magic, it truly was an incredible day.
